ABILENE – A digital video company has created a service to help small businesses keep their customers informed about changes resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We took our camera, we took our idea, and we went out there and told small businesses for absolutely no charge, we wanted to help them get the message out to their customers,” IN-Focus Digital’s Kayla Christianson told a reporter for Big Country.com.

The digital video service creates videos they call “small business spotlights.” Participating businesses can update their customers on any changes they’ve made due to COVID-19 outbreak, for example changed hours of operation or changes in services offered.

Participating businesses praised the idea.

“To try and help at a tough time with all the kids in the home-school environment, we’re going to be doing free P.E. classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays on Facebook live,” martial arts teacher Chip Townsend said in the Big Country report.

Thirty businesses have created videos in Abilene showing how they were responding to the crisis.

“Because of the Beehive (restaurant and bar) in Albany got wind of what we were doing down here, we worked in conjunction with the Albany Chamber of Commerce, and we shot 15 small business spotlights in Albany on Friday,” Christianson said.
