City of Amarillo Texas issued the following announcement on May 27
Yesterday, the Amarillo City Council approved a budget amendment proposed by the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation (EDC) that allows the launch of the #AmarilloIsOpen program. This initiative allows local businesses to become marketing partners with the Amarillo EDC. This ratification follows the Amarillo EDC’s Board of Directors approval on May 18, 2020.
“We understand the impact that COVID-19 has had on local businesses,” said Kevin Carter, President & CEO of the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation. “As businesses start to reopen after the pandemic, we wanted to find a way to help. Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy and this program allows us to provide support to the businesses that make Amarillo a great place to live and work,” Carter stated.
Beginning when Amarillo has entered Phase 3 of reopening, the Amarillo EDC will be offering local businesses the opportunity to join our organization as promotional partners. This program aims to communicate locally and nationally that the city of Amarillo is not only open for business but is also a great place to grow a business.
Companies who are interested in participating need to submit the application form to request to become a promotional partner. Promotional partners may be eligible to receive $5,000.00 from the Amarillo EDC for their work in promoting Amarillo.
“In this unprecedented time, we believe it’s important for the organization to help however it can,” said Carter. “This program will not only provide financial support, but it shows that Amarillo businesses remain strong and resilient during uncertain times,” Carter stated.
Marketing materials will be supplied to the selected businesses free of charge, such as yard signs and social media graphics.
The application webpage will be available when Amarillo has entered Phase 3 of reopening, however, those who are interested in receiving updates about the program can enter their information here: https://www.amarilloedc.com/amarillo-is-open-form
