CITY OF ABILENE: South 14th Street water line replacement project begins

Roadcons

City of Abilene issued the following announcement on July 8

Work has begun to replace the water line along South 14th street in Abilene, improving water service to businesses and residents in the area.

The project is designed to replace the aging cast iron pipe with approximately 5,000 feet of new 8” PVC. Construction will begin on South 14th at Willis Street, and end at Pioneer Drive. Completion is set for February, 2021.

Construction will take place during normal business hours, Monday through Friday. Work will not be permitted on weekends or holidays unless otherwise authorized by City of Abilene water department administration.

The City will provide information regarding traffic controls and road closures throughout the project on the City website (www.abilenetx.gov), as well as its Facebook and Twitter social media pages. Drivers should expect to encounter traffic interruptions and plan to seek alternate routes if possible.

Starks Construction was awarded the bid for the project, and was issued a notice to proceed with work by the City of Abilene Water Utilities department July 6, 2020. If you have questions or concerns regarding this notice, please contact Kevin Jaeger, Project manager and Utility Engineer for the City of Abilene at 325-437-4907.
