CITY OF ABILENE: Need to talk to someone?

Support

City of Abilene issued the following announcement on Sept. 2

The Crisis Counseling Program at the Betty Hardwick Center, through funding from a FEMA grant, is now offering resources from Texans Recovering Together to help folks deal with the mental health challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Those resources also include a free helpline sponsored by Texas Health and Human Services.

This helpline is available to anyone who is struggling with depression, confusion, anxiety, or fears about COVID-19, and it gives people a trained mental health professional to talk with about their concerns.  If you need more assistance than the helpline can’t give, you will receive other resources and referrals to local agencies for follow up.

The free mental health helpline is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The counselors will just listen if you need to talk, or they will offer assistance with resources and referrals if that is needed.

Free helpline: 833.986.1919
