Albany ISD Education: 510 students were enrolled in schools in 2021-22 school year

There were 510 students enrolled in Albany ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 1.4% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 52% of them were boys, and 48% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 76.1% of the Albany ISD total enrollment.

Albany ISD roughly covers schools within Shackelford County with its main office in Albany.

Among the two schools in Albany ISD, Nancy Smith Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 268 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
