There were 377 students enrolled in Cross Plains ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 0.5% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 54.6% of them were boys, and 45.4% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 78.5% of the Cross Plains ISD total enrollment.

Cross Plains ISD roughly covers schools within Callahan County with its main office in Cross Plains.

Among the two schools in Cross Plains ISD, Cross Plains Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 209 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
