There were 2,054 students enrolled in Sweetwater ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 1.4% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 52.7% of them were boys, and 47.3% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 53.5% of the Sweetwater ISD total enrollment.

Sweetwater ISD roughly covers schools within Nolan County with its main office in Sweetwater.

Among the six schools in Sweetwater ISD, Sweetwater High School recorded the highest enrollment of 587 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
