Callahan County schools enrolled 2,603 students during 2023-24 school year

There were 2,603 students enrolled in Callahan County schools in the 2023-24 school year, the same number as in the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

At the time, Callahan County had the 117th lowest enrollment in the state.

Data also showed that white students made up 77.1% of the student body, the largest percentage in Callahan County schools, followed by Hispanic students at 18.2%, Black students at 0.6%, American Indian students at 0.5%, Pacific Islander students at 0.2%, Asian students at 0.1% and multiracial students at 3.3%.

A recent study by WalletHub classified Texas as one of the least-educated states in the U.S., ranking it 41st out of 50 in educational quality and student outcomes.
