Enrollment at Lueders-Avoca ISD schools decreased by 7.5% compared to previous school year

There were 99 students enrolled in Lueders-Avoca ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 7.5% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 54.5% of them were boys, and 45.5% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 66.7% of the Lueders-Avoca ISD total enrollment.

Lueders-Avoca ISD roughly covers schools within Jones County with its main office in Lueders.

Among the two schools in Lueders-Avoca ISD, Lueders-Avoca Elementary/Junior High School recorded the highest enrollment of 70 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
