There were 1,929 African American students enrolled in Abilene ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 7% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Abilene ISD schools welcomed 15,426 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 12.5% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Abilene ISD roughly covers schools within Taylor County and has a main office in Abilene.

Among the 27 schools in Abilene ISD schools, Abilene High School recorded the highest enrollment of African American students in the 2021-22 school year, with a total of 268 students.
