There were three Asian students enrolled in Albany ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, the same number as the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Albany ISD schools welcomed 498 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Asian students comprised 0.6% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Albany ISD roughly covers schools within Shackelford County and has a main office in Albany.

Among the two schools in Albany ISD schools, Nancy Smith Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of Asian students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of two students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
