There were eight Asian students enrolled in Jones County schools in the 2021-22 school year, the same number as in the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Jones County welcomed 2,658 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, Asian comprised 0.3% of the student body to be the third least represented ethnicity in the county.

Among the 13 schools in Jones County, Anson Elementary School, Anson High School, Anson Middle School, Hamlin Collegiate Elementary School, Hamlin Collegiate High School, Hawley Elementary School, Stamford High School, and Stamford Middle School recorded the highest enrollment of Asian student in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
